My experience with the SAIC Motor MG5 Scorpio: Power has a 0.5-second lag but delivers a strong push in Sport mode. The transmission shifts smoothly but feels slightly unresponsive at 20-30 km/h. Handling is tight and stable compared to my CR-V, with acceptable body roll in fast turns. The torsion beam suspension performs well on smooth roads but is bumpy over speed bumps and rough surfaces. The infotainment system has a clear display and smooth operation but lacks apps; it had a black screen once at 1,000 km but worked fine after a restart. Front seats are comfortable, but the rear is narrow—okay for two people, cramped for three. The steering wheel feels great, the Yamaha sound system is impressive, adaptive cruise control is a lifesaver in traffic, and collision warning works well.

My main complaints: no power-adjustable front passenger seat, insufficient physical buttons, low-quality key material that scratches easily, limited infotainment apps, and slow wireless charging (iPhone charges less than 60% in two hours).

Actual fuel consumption is 7.5-8 L/100 km, about 0.5 L higher than the displayed figure.

I test-drove the SAIC Motor MG5 Scorpio and UNI-V on the same day. The Scorpio has a slightly tall body with an uncoordinated溜背 design, and the rear sunroof gets hot and bright in sunny weather, making the backseat uncomfortable. However, its动力 is strong—officially 6.9s 0-100km/h, actually around 7.2-7.3s, top in its class. Acceleration is smooth, with obvious推背感 even with 4 people in Super Sport mode. The Scorpio also has excellent sound insulation; at 100km/h, closing the windows nearly eliminates noise, unlike the UNI-V which has noticeable tire and wind noise.

For the SAIC Motor MG5 Scorpio, the most unsatisfactory part is the strong顿挫感 and slight lack of power when starting from a stop, but it performs well once moving. The average fuel consumption after over 800 km of mixed driving (highway, urban, rural) is 7.6. The space is moderate; the rear seat can feel cramped if a slightly overweight person sits there. As a family car, the driving experience is sufficient with some sporty elements favored by young people.
