The SAIC-GM-Wuling Hongguang S3 is easy to handle with precise steering and stable cornering. It feels steady below 80km/h but slightly shaky and light above 100km/h due to insufficient weight. The 1.5L engine with 6-speed manual transmission has a well-positioned clutch and responsive throttle at low speeds, with strong power between 40-80km/h, though acceleration weakens above 100km/h. The suspension handles small bumps well but causes noticeable bouncing over speed bumps, affecting comfort. Noise insulation is good at 60km/h; engine, tire, and wind noise increase moderately at 90km/h and become more apparent at 120km/h, which is acceptable for its class. Fuel consumption is average: official combined is 6.9L/100km, with around 7.5L (urban), 7.1L (suburban), and 6.6L (highway) shown on the meter when the AC is off.

Quality: SAIC-GM-Wuling Hongguang S3 has a low complaint rate; main issues are gearbox problems like abnormal noise, jerking, and gear slipping. Acceleration: Linear, easy to start, with strong torque from 1400 rpm onwards. Braking: Nods obviously under full braking; 100-0km/h average braking distance is 39.23m.
