SAIC Maxus G90

I recently test-drove the SAIC Maxus G90, specifically the 6-seat top trim. It has two main highlights: a luxurious cabin and rich tech features. The exterior features a large chrome grille, split headlights with lightning-style LED DRLs, and "Z" chrome trim on the C-pillar. The 3200mm wheelbase provides good legroom and headroom for both second and third rows, with independent seats in all rows. The cabin is very luxurious, using perforated Nappa leather. The front row has multiple screens including a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, 12.3-inch central control screen, and 12.3-inch co-pilot screen, supporting 10-screen linkage. The infotainment system offers apps like iQiyi, Tencent Video, and QQ Music. The second row features luxurious independent captain seats with 12-way power adjustment, leg rests, heating, massage, and ventilation functions, along with a control screen and hidden table. The third row, though slightly less equipped, still has heating, ventilation, and power adjustment. Power comes from a 2.0T + 48V mild hybrid system paired with an Aisin 8AT gearbox, delivering 172kW and 390N·m. The suspension is comfortable with front MacPherson and rear 5-link independent setups. Advantages include a luxurious and tech-rich cabin, comfortable suspension, and soft seats, ideal for business use. However, the brand's luxury MPV reputation is average, and mid-to-high speed acceleration could be stronger, though sufficient for daily use.

Driving the SAIC Maxus G90 is comfortable. It's easy to operate—just press the brake, shift gears, and release the brake to go, which feels great once accustomed. However, you have to put it in P gear before turning off the engine; it would be better to turn off directly. The acceleration at traffic lights is fast, but the 48V mild hybrid system seems ineffective unless you accelerate hard. I don't feel the car is floaty as some say. The suspension is okay, but wind noise is a bit loud above 120 km/h on the highway. With 1,200 km driven, fuel consumption is 9.5-10 L/100 km. The 2.0T engine delivers strong power. The space is really large; my little daughter can sleep in the back. Unfortunately, the driver's camera broke the day after picking up the car, and I had to go to Zhengzhou to replace it.

For the SAIC Maxus G90, appearance is subjective, but its larger size than Buick GL8 and Toyota Sienna, 3.2m wheelbase, 19-inch rims with Continental self-repairing tires, power sliding doors, and privacy glass give it a luxurious MPV aura. The interior impresses with DMS driver biometrics for automatic settings, 10 screens including an integrated triple-screen dashboard, extensive soft-touch materials, and Nappa leather seats, feeling more premium than Sienna's plasticky interior. The smart cockpit uses Qualcomm 8155 and MediaTek 8666 chips; the infotainment system is user-friendly but the touch-only AC panel causes accidental touches. It's packed with features like HUD, AR navigation, wireless charging, heated/ventilated/massaging seats, and comprehensive driver aids. The crucial second row offers facial recognition for personalized settings, lavish leg and headroom, dual sunroofs, 10-inch rear seatback screens, an armrest screen, fully adjustable seats with heating/ventilation/massage, a small table, and charging ports, perfect for mobile office work.
