I find the GWM King Kong Cannon visually appealing, and the进取灰 color is very dirt-resistant. As I use it mainly for cargo and family purposes, the interior meets my needs. Its 1.5x1.8 flat cargo bed without wheel arches is a key reason I chose it, offering ample space. For a mid-size pickup, the front space suits my 1.7m height, and the rear seats are adequate though a bit tight for those used to larger spaces. I added a 3,000 yuan optional package, which includes a 12.3-inch navigation screen, LED headlights, daytime running lights, automatic headlights, and 360-degree panoramic影像 (the main reason for choosing the package). The 2.0T engine feels a bit underpowered initially but becomes strong later; I prefer manual transmission as it's more fun. Fuel consumption is a bit high, around over 1.3 yuan per kilometer in the city, and 200 yuan of gasoline allows driving about 150 kilometers. I hope it improves after the break-in period.

Overall, my GWM King Kong Cannon has no major issues. The power is a bit laggy with slow feedback. The overall cost of ownership is acceptable, and the compatible tires are moderately priced and durable. However, pickup truck insurance is really a problem.

I bought the white 2022 King Kong Cannon Long Box manual 4x2 gasoline 2.0T via Alibaba. Picking it up in Nanjing and driving back to Hefei, it's convenient for city and elevated driving, serving well as a private car. Having driven automatics for over a decade, the manual transmission feels fresh. The steering wheel and clutch are heavier than medium trucks with a long clutch travel, but the seating position is good for long drives without fatigue. I was surprised by the in-car internet and voice assistant. The low-end audio is average; the interior is简洁 with ample soft padding, feeling modern. The old model's uneven cargo bed is a letdown, but the bed light is a nice touch. First and second gears have noticeable jerking, but power is decent though fuel consumption is high. Acceleration exceeds expectations. The rear leaf spring suspension is stiff, with the front row being more comfortable, giving an off-road feel on bumpy roads. It has good looks, suitable for both business and family use. Compared with Ranger and Zheng Tu, it's a solid pickup with acceptable cost-effectiveness. I plan to upgrade to a higher trim in a few years.
