I am quite impressed with the Chery Jetour Freelander. The interior, featuring extensive leather wrapping, has a neat off-road style and is easy to maintain, though it lacks luxurious amenities like a refrigerator or large screen compared to some other Chinese models. The cabin space is a highlight, with a flat rear floor that easily accommodated my cat supplies and allowed the cat to move around during a trip home. Three adults can sit comfortably in the back, though the rear seats are a bit hard and non-adjustable.

The 1.5T engine initially felt slow on acceleration, but once I got used to the throttle response, it performs well, especially with strong mid-to-high speed acceleration. The L2级辅助驾驶 is very useful on highways, reducing fatigue during long drives. The suspension is firm but handles small bumps well at controlled speeds, and the high ground clearance is great for off-road adventures like my trip to the grasslands.

The fuel economy is satisfying, with an average of 7.5 L/100km after 2319 km. Urban driving in Beijing gives around 9 L/100km, highway (100km/h) around 8 L/100km, and national roads about 7 L/100km.

However, there are drawbacks: the sound system has poor bass, wind noise becomes noticeable above 120 km/h (due to the lack of double-layer glass in lower trims), the 4G network causes navigation delays and voice assistant issues, and the wireless charging makes my Xiaomi phone overheat with prolonged use.

For city commuting, the 1.5T is cost-effective, but I highly recommend the 2.0T "Conquer" trim. The extra 20,000 yuan is well worth it for features like double-layer glass, SONY sound system, and 4WD, which enhance safety in snowy/rainy conditions and overall driving experience. I regret not choosing the top trim initially.

I bought the Chery Jetour Freelander in late April 2025 and have driven it for nearly half a year. I chose it as an off-road vehicle mainly for its good-looking, tough square design and spacious interior, costing under 140,000 including insurance and fees, which offers great value for money. The space is large enough for three people in the back seat and ample luggage like kids' toys, strollers, camping gear, and even two fans. The power is adequate for city driving; on the highway, it runs smoothly at 120 km/h but gets noisy and less powerful when accelerating further. The interior is average with soft materials and a big screen, though the infotainment system occasionally lags or blacks out (less than 5 times). The brake is soft, requiring hard pressing, and fuel consumption is high, but these are acceptable for me.

I chose the Chery Jetour Freelander for its boxy off-road style, though I don't go off-roading. The square design with Clover headlights/tail lights looks somewhat like a Land Rover. The interior has a clear large infotainment screen but feels plasticky with noticeable new car smell even after a month. SUV space is great—spacious front row, flat-floor rear seating three comfortably, and a large trunk that can be expanded to a double-bed size by folding rear seats. The 1.5T engine suffices for city driving; low-speed acceleration is slightly delayed, but it's powerful for overtaking, even maintaining power at 120km/h on highways. Steering is light and precise, though too light at high speeds. Fuel consumption has dropped from over 16L/100km initially to around 10L/100km in the city and as low as 7.6L/100km on highways, using 92-octane fuel. However, there are drawbacks: noise becomes明显 above 80km/h, with wind and tire noise increasing at higher speeds; the infotainment system has limited apps and lacks Gaode's lane-level navigation; high beam brightness and height are insufficient; rear seats are hard with thin padding; the chassis is stiff, causing颠簸 over speed bumps and rough roads, and vibration filtering is poor.
