Hongqi Hongqi H6

I am a dual Hongqi owner with an H5 and the Hongqi H6, which I bought in March this year. The H6 better meets my expectations for a performance car. Its handling is superior—Comfort mode handles my daily aggressive driving, while Sport mode delivers instant power for extreme situations, with a solidly tuned chassis that easily takes 80km/h bends on overpasses. Fuel consumption is similar to the H5: 5.7-6.3L/100km on highways and around 8.8L/100km in Beijing's commuter traffic. However, the infotainment system is frustratingly laggy, though a CarPlay adapter partially solves this. Overall, apart from the uncomfortable sports seats on long drives and the laggy infotainment, the H6 is the most satisfying performance-oriented car I've driven.

For the Hongqi H6, the strengths are outstanding exterior, interior, design, and handling. The rear space is excellent, and with its liftback design and 4.99m length, the trunk space is top-tier in B-class cars. The sporty, firm suspension is well-tuned for a domestic car. Braking performance is strong, second only to Lynk & Co 03 among gasoline cars. Safety is on par with Volvo and Cadillac, being very robust. However, fuel consumption is high: 10-13 L/100km in urban areas with many traffic lights, 5+ L/100km on highways, and 7+ L/100km on normal roads. Headroom may be insufficient for those over 1.85m due to the coupe and liftback design. The 2024 infotainment system is just adequate, though the 2025 version is improved.

Exterior: The Hongqi H6's front face is very imposing, which打动 me more than the MG7 I initially planned to buy. Interior: Satisfactory, but the large screen is slightly low, requiring低头 to view. Space: Spacious due to its body size and wheelbase. Configuration: Opted for the 2024 Zhimei version as it offers性价比 with added features like double-layer soundproof glass, 360-image, and external trunk switch. Power: The low-power version with 224 horsepower is sufficient for daily use. Fuel consumption: 8-9 L/100km in daily commuting, 5.6-5.7 L/100km during a highway trip with暖风. Reliability: No major issues except occasional car machine freezing on startup, which needs a software update. Cost: Requires 95-octane gasoline, not 92.
