I've always liked large off-road-capable vehicles but wanted to avoid high fuel consumption of petrol models, so I chose the SAIC Maxus Territory diesel version. Its diesel engine offers acceptable fuel efficiency—around 10L/100km in the city and 8-9L/100km in the suburbs—much better than petrol off-roaders. The spacious interior allows the rear seats to fold flat into a bed for camping. It handles light off-roading well, letting me tackle paths others avoid. However, there are drawbacks: acceleration is slower than petrol cars, with abnormal noises when climbing hills at 1,600 rpm (unresolved by the dealer). The interior quality, like button gaps and door handles, feels inferior to joint-venture models. The running boards get slippery when wet, and tech features like the rearview camera (easily blocked by dirt/rain) and automatic driving assist (prone to deviation) are鸡肋. Only the Cross Country trim has towing资质, which my top trim lacks—disappointing. Overall, it suits my needs despite pros and cons; I recommend the basic diesel version over the top trim.

It offers impressive off-road features like a 2.0L twin-turbo engine, part-time 4WD, and three differential locks, which usually belong to million-level vehicles, yet at an affordable price. The exterior has a tough design with a large grille, split headlights, a big body, and high suspension, showing strong presence. The interior stands out with a full LCD instrument panel, a large central control screen, spacious storage, and great comfort. Its powertrain, combining the 2.0L twin-turbo engine with ZF 8-speed AT gearbox and part-time 4WD, plus multiple driving modes and creep mode, makes off-roading easy. Overall, the Territory is a capable SUV with advantages in power and configuration over competitors.
