BAIC Beijing U7

After our baby was born, we needed a family car and chose to test drive the BAIC Beijing U7. The interior features a leather steering wheel, faux leather seats, and convenient keyless start. The 12.3-inch LCD dashboard and central control screen (with reverse camera) offer clear display and smooth operation, supporting CarLife, voice control, and OTA updates. Powered by a 1.5T 150-horsepower engine (110kW/210N·m) paired with a CVT gearbox, it delivers smooth acceleration and sufficient power for daily use, with noticeable torque after turbo engagement. As a mid-size sedan (4785mm×1835mm×1490mm), it offers ample space: I’m 1.79m, with 4 fists of headroom in front and 3 fists of legroom plus 3 fingers of headroom in the back. The trunk is regular but rear seats don’t fold, yet meets a family of three’s needs. Noise control is acceptable—conversations remain easy at 80km/h, with mild tire/wind noise on highways.

Overall, the BAIC Beijing U7 is decent for daily use. However, there's noticeable chassis noise on bumpy roads, significant tire and wind noise, and the engine vibrates strongly, especially felt in the back seat. My average fuel consumption is around 10L/100km, depending on driving habits.

The BAIC Beijing U7's most satisfying aspect is its spaciousness—front and rear seats are very roomy, comfortably seating three adults in the back, and the trunk is larger than expected, ideal for family trips or hauling items. However, the power is underwhelming: acceleration is sluggish, especially in city traffic jams, and there's noticeable乏力 when overtaking or climbing hills on highways.
