I moved to a third-tier city for work and needed a car for weekend trips home. With a budget of around 100,000 yuan and considering poor road conditions and inconvenient charging, I chose the Geely ICON (2026 Chocolate Edition) as my first car. I was attracted by its stylish appearance with four color options, and the interior has a chic design with ambient lighting and little new car smell. The large interior space offers a comfortable view, and the rear seats are roomy enough for crossing legs, though the trunk is small. It handles well, with responsive pedals and a 1.5T four-cylinder engine providing smooth power, easily tackling bumpy roads with its high ground clearance. Useful features include L2 driving assistance, 540° panoramic image, parking radar, and electric tailgate. However, it has some drawbacks: fuel consumption is around 10L/100km, wind noise is loud above 80km/h, the infotainment system's navigation can be glitchy, light-colored interior gets dirty easily, there are few USB ports, and the suspension is average, causing颠簸 over big potholes. Overall, it's a good choice for a novice like me.

For the Geely ICON, the pros are its very unique futuristic design, hidden door handles, L2-level intelligent driving assistance with multiple safety features, comfortable seating space, and a large sunroof, which are among the best in its class. The cons are the 1.5T three-cylinder engine, which has more vibration than four-cylinder ones; the compact SUV positioning leading to small trunk space; slow infotainment system updates; and expensive original parts due to low sales as a niche model.

My thoughts on the Geely ICON: The exterior and interior design are its biggest highlights—avant-garde yet harmonious, which I believe attracts most buyers. Driving it is easy; the steering is light at low speeds and heavier at high speeds with some play. The engine and gearbox work well together, delivering swift power in sport mode, while eco mode with the 48V mild hybrid saves fuel. The chassis is sporty and firm, though the 19-inch Continental tires I chose make the ride too bumpy. The 1.5T three-cylinder engine's loud "ticking" noise is annoying. The 540-degree panoramic image and 360-degree dashcam are very useful. The blind spot monitoring saved me from an accident on the highway, and the automatic braking prevented a rear-end collision once. The infotainment system is slow to start with few apps. My urban fuel consumption is around 8L/100km, which is acceptable but higher than the official 5.7L. Overall, I'm satisfied.
