I've always loved boxy SUVs since childhood when I saw a Wrangler. After being disappointed with a Chinese-brand car in 2016, I was drawn back by domestic brands' rise, especially GWM. I compared the Haval Menglong Fuel Version with Hongqi HS5, Tiguan L, CR-V, etc., and chose it for its initial appeal and value. The 2738mm wheelbase offers spacious legroom and storage, though rear door entry is a bit awkward. Its 2.0L engine (238hp, 385Nm) with 9-speed DCT delivers strong power—overtaking trucks easily, and my wife even drove it at 140-150km/h, loving the high visibility. The boxy SUV has firm suspension, minimal body roll, good seat comfort, and slight steering play, which doesn't affect driving fun. With 2,000km driven (1,100km highway), fuel consumption is 9.5-11L/100km, not lowering much due to short commutes and city driving. Overall, buying what I love is the best thing.

The GWM Haval Menglong Fuel Version has a tough exterior and sufficient space for me. I'm unsatisfied with the Zhaoyang tires; the so-called ambient lights in the configuration are just small lights in storage compartments. Overall, I'm quite satisfied: power is more than enough, space is good, but the rear seats don't fold completely flat. I bought it in October for subsidies, choosing the fuel version due to long-term use in Northeast China and actual driving needs. Driving and handling are great, exceeding expectations, though some details could be improved. After seeing the fuel consumption of 12-13L/100km, I found no need to replace with AT tires or add a roof rack as suggested during the test drive.

I suddenly wanted to change my car and went to the store. The Haval Menglong Fuel Version was displayed next to the H9, looking like a younger brother with a nice appearance. I knew some configurations and test-drove it. As a gentle driver, I drove moderately. Compared to my previous Japanese car, it has many advantages. I don't care much about fuel consumption because I used to drive a WEY VV7, which was said to have high fuel consumption but I got around 8 L/100km. Now I've driven over 2,000 km, and it's good. The engine speed is sometimes unstable when using cruise control on the highway. I drive in Chongqing and counties, on highways and mountain roads, with no problem in power response. The drawbacks are high wind resistance and loud noise. The seats are high, offering a wide view, and driving is comfortable. I haven't tried other road surfaces yet.
