Geely Galaxy Xingyao 7 MAX 220km AWD Vehicle Profile

Model Overview

The Geely Galaxy Xingyao 7 is a new mid-size all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid sedan from Geely Galaxy, marketed as a "disruptor of mid-level luxury sedans." Pre-sales opened in April 2026 and it went on sale in May. Built on Geely's GEA Evo global smart new-energy flagship architecture with the Leishen AI Hybrid 2.0 system, it targets a balance of space, performance, efficiency and value, competing in the space between joint-venture B-class sedans and self-brand PHEV models.

Design follows the Galaxy "Ripple Aesthetics" language: a light-up "Galaxy Starfall" grille, "Flying Eave" LED headlights, and a 384-LED "Rising Sun" laser-carved full-width tail light, with a fastback roofline for a sporty stance. Colors include Ding Bai White, Lacquer Black and Forged Silver. The AWD Exploration+ version pairs a 1.5L high-efficiency hybrid engine (47.26% thermal efficiency) with dual-motor AWD, aimed at young buyers who want driving fun and family practicality.

Verdict: Three Highlights and Three Caveats

Highlight 1: Rare e-AWD in this price class The Xingyao 7 AWD uses dual motors (front PMSM + rear induction), delivering a combined 312 kW and 526 N·m of torque, with a 0–100 km/h time of just 5.4 seconds. In its segment it is nearly the only plug-in hybrid sedan to pair all-wheel drive with genuine performance — a class-above combination.

Highlight 2: ~2L-class depleted fuel economy and 1800km combined range A 28.3kWh "Divine Shield Gold Brick" LFP pack powers the AWD version to 220km of CLTC electric range, with an 1800km combined range on a full charge and tank. The Leishen AI Hybrid 2.0 system keeps depleted-state fuel use around the 2L class (about 5L/100km in real-world mixed testing) — fast, frugal and range-anxiety-free on long trips.

Highlight 3: Cabin space and chassis punch above the price point At 4958mm long with a 2852mm wheelbase, rear legroom and headroom are generous, and three adults ride without crowding. The reinforced five-link rear suspension with adaptive damping and Lotus-style tuning delivers cornering composure and ride filtering well above typical family sedans.

Caveat 1: Refinement is average Multiple media testers report ordinary low-speed tire noise and perceptible highway wind noise; cabin quiet is decent but not class-leading, more noticeable above 80 km/h.

Caveat 2: High-level ADAS is not standard The Qianli Haohan H3 driving assist (27 sensors plus a Horizon Journey J6M chip) appears only on some upper trims; lower trims get a more basic setup, so verify the package per version.

Caveat 3: Some build details need polish Testers note that the wheels sit slightly uneven with the body in side view, and some owners report light-tone interiors are easy to soil and occasional rattles.

Ownership Costs & Service

Warranty: 4 years/100,000 km vehicle.

Maintenance cost: As a PHEV, daily commuting runs mostly on electricity at near-zero fuel cost; the engine only needs routine items (oil, filters) on schedule. Compared with a comparable gasoline B-class sedan, fuel and upkeep spend are clearly lower.

Competitor Comparison

The Xingyao 7 AWD targets the roughly $15,000–21,000 family PHEV sedan segment, going head-to-head with the BYD Sealion 06 DM, Nissan N6 and Roewe M7 DMH.
All four are 5-seat mid-size PHEV sedans in the same price band. The Xingyao 7 leads on e-AWD and 5.4s acceleration; the Sealion 06 DM stresses 230km EV range and Blade-battery safety; the Nissan N6 offers joint-venture refinement and brand trust; the Roewe M7 balances long combined range and family usability.

The Xingyao 7 AWD's core appeal is the rare combination of all-wheel drive, 5.4s acceleration and ~2L-class fuel economy — performance and family usability in one car. Its weaknesses are average refinement and ADAS that isn't fully standard.
If you want driving fun and wet-road stability, the Xingyao 7 is the most engaging pick; if you prioritize EV range and battery safety, the Sealion 06 DM leads; on a tight budget or for a joint-venture brand, the Nissan N6 and Roewe M7 each have merit.

Expert Test Drive

Strengths
  1. Class-above AWD performance: e-AWD with 312kW combined power gives brisk, lag-free overtaking, and on wet or light unpaved roads the AWD improves grip and traction over FWD rivals (Source: Tencent Auto test drive).
  2. Excellent chassis: The reinforced five-link rear suspension with adaptive damping provides disciplined cornering and clean filtering on rough roads, with tight, stable body control (Source: Tencent Auto test drive).
  3. Frugal running: Depleted-state fuel use is 3.98–4.18L/100km, with about 5L/100km in combined highway/city real-world testing — a clear advantage over gasoline and many PHEV rivals (Source: Tencent Auto test drive).

Weaknesses
  1. Ordinary quietness: Low-speed tire noise is average and highway wind noise is perceptible; NVH is decent but not class-leading (Source: Tencent Auto test drive).
  2. High-level ADAS not standard: The Qianli Haohan H3 system appears only on some upper trims, with big gaps to base configurations.
  3. Build polish: Wheel-to-body flushness in side view is uneven, and some interior details feel less refined.

Test scenarios
  • 0–100 km/h acceleration: Officially 5.4s; media testing confirms quick response and lag-free hard launches, with the AWD providing stable starts (Sources: Geely Galaxy official + Sina Auto/Tencent Auto).
  • Depleted-state fuel economy: Real-world combined highway/city testing stabilizes around 5L/100km, with depleted-state use near the 4L class (Source: Tencent Auto real-world test).

Real Owner Reviews

Positive feedback
  • Efficiency and replenishment: Low-cost EV commuting, stable depleted fuel use, long combined range and fewer stops on long trips.
"EV commuting costs very little, under ¥0.1/km; depleted fuel use is stable at 3.5–4L/100km, about 6L on highway…… full combined range reaches 1300–1430km, so long trips need few refuels."
  • Space and practicality: Roomy rear seats with a flat floor, generous trunk, and agile city driving.
"Space is absolutely generous; at 170cm I have more than enough room, and both front passenger and rear passengers can easily cross their legs. The flat rear floor makes the middle seat very comfortable."
  • Power and driving: Quick, smooth low-speed response and confident highway overtaking, with useful cruise assist.
"Acceleration is fast enough and overtaking feels confident…… even in depleted state it runs like a gasoline car but saves much more fuel."

Negative feedback
  • Noise and wind: Highway wind and tire noise are significant; refinement is average.
"The biggest downside is insulation — wind and tire noise are both loud. It's fine at low speed, but once you pass 80 it gets noisy."
  • Range calibration and details: Stated range is optimistic, light interiors soil easily, and some spots rattle.
"The range figure is optimistic; switching to WLTC shows more realistic numbers. Highway wind noise is somewhat loud, and the sunroof occasionally rattles, but all within acceptable limits."
